Elder Ballard & the New Media

This quote is probably my favorite from Elder Ballard's talk given at the graduation commencement in last December at Brigham Young University Hawaii. It's titled Using New Media to Support the Work of the Church:

"Last Christmas my children gave me an iPod. With careful instructions, they handed me that little device, and I had only one question for them--'When will I ever find time to use this little wonder?'"

I think I have to agree with that statement to some extent. As Peter knows, his iPod sat dormant in its box on my desk at home for a couple days! Elder Ballard explained that the term "New Media" comprises of "tools on the Internet that make it possible for nearly anyone to publish or broadcast to either a large or a niche audience." He then continued to say,

"How will you use these marvelous inventions? More to the point, how will you use them to further the work of the Lord? . . . may I ask that you to join the conversation by participating on the Internet, particularly the New Media, to share the gospel and to explain in simple and clear terms the message of the Restoration."

So now comes time to unveil . . . my blog!
